Bottom of Bill

The remaining part of the property tax bill indicates what the total amount due is, and when it is due.

  1. Current Taxes is total amount of Net Municipal taxes + Net School Taxes.
  2. Arrears/Credits will indicate if you have outstanding prior amounts that are overdue, or if you have a credit on the tax roll resulting from being on the Tax Instalment Payment Program (TIPPS) or an overpayment from the prior year.
    1. If you have outstanding amounts that are overdue (arrears), this amount is calculated up to the date indicated in the message just above the Important Messages box. This amount is reflecting what was outstanding at the time the information of outstanding balances was submitted to the Province of Manitoba for the printing of the tax bills. Any payments made or additional penalties added between that date and the date the property tax bills are mailed are not reflected in this amount owing.
    2. If you are on the TIPPS program, this will appear as a credit, with the amount calculated up to the date the list of enrolled in the program was submitted to the Province for printing. You are not required to pay the balancing owing of property taxes in full by the due date on the property tax bill, as long as you remain enrolled in the Program. If you withdraw from the program, the amount owing will be due and payable by the due date, or immediately afterwards if after the due date.
  3. Balance Owing is the total amount due, adding Current Taxes + any Arrears or subtracting the credits on the tax roll.
  4. Due Date is the date that property taxes are due. This date remains unchanged year to year, unless the 31st of July falls on a weekend, then the nearest business day at July end will be the due date. You are provided a property tax bill 1-2 months prior the due date. Any and all balances outstanding after July 31st are subject to a penalty of 1.25%, compounded annually to 15%, and applied the 1st of each month.
